Hi, guys. All of you cool cats living on campus should keep your computers and consoles under your bed or something, because whoever's been stealing them from allegedly "unlocked" common rooms is damn good at getting through locked doors. :(

Whee! Just blew $200 on LSAT registration. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
This means that I better friggin' well get my crap together, or that $200 is down the drain. Nothing motivates me more than my own tight-fistedness ;P

The Guardian said of this book: "With all the apparitions, ghosts, mysterious deaths, omens and premonitions, not to mention screams in the night, slitherings and scurryings aboard the yacht Dark Echo, anyone sensible would keep well away. Not so our heroes, who are determined to give the yacht a refit and sail it across the Atlantic."
They also say: It's all ghostly hokum, of course, but jolly good hokum Sounds perfect Halloween fare.

The Hunger Games Suzanne Collins YA fiction; fantasy; series 374 pages
Sixteen-year-old Katniss is smart, athletic, and fast. She can take down a rabbit with a bow and arrow, hitting it straight through the eye. Will these skills be enough to survive the Hunger Games? Suzanne Collins, the author of the middle-grade fantasy series The Underland Chronicles begins anew, exploring a future landscape that will be familiar to devotees of science fiction's dystopic strain. In a nation called Panem, which occupies the landmass that is the present United States, a parasitical fascist Capitol dominates 12 conquered districts. There was a thirteenth district but it was obliterated during a rebellion. The totalitarian government keeps the subjected populations in line by threatened devastation, starvation, and brutality.
I found this book and concept to be utterly fascinating. I love the post-apocalyptic feel that was conveyed throughout the entire book. It is interesting that this country, Panem used to actually be the United States and the history of what happened because of the country's rebellion against the Capitol was interesting as well. I thought that the characters and the plot were astounding. I really felt for Katniss throughout the book and I cannot wait to read Catching Fire soon! **There are some things that I would love to talk about in the book and even one thing that I didn't like, but I feel that it is spoilery, and so if you have read the book and wish to discuss it, please do so with me in the comments. Thank you!** Books read this year: 44/50. Pages read this year: 14843/15000

Fearless Fourteen Janet Evanovich fiction; mystery; series 334 pages
The Crime: Armed robbery to the tune of nine million dollars Dom Rizzi robbed a bank, stashed the money, and did the time. His family couldn’t be more proud. He always was the smart one. The Cousin: Joe Morelli Joe Morelli, Dom Rizzi, and Dom’s sister, Loretta, are cousins. Morelli is a cop, Rizzi robs banks, and Loretta is a single mother waiting tables at the firehouse. The all-American family. The Complications: Murder, kidnapping, destruction of personal property, and acid reflux Less than a week after Dom’s release from prison, Joe Morelli has shadowy figures breaking into his house and dying in his basement. He’s getting threatening messages, Loretta is kidnapped, and Dom is missing. The Catastrophe: Moonman Morelli hires Walter “Mooner” Dunphy, stoner and “inventor” turned crime fighter, to protect his house. Morelli can’t afford a lot on a cop’s salary, and Mooner will work for potatoes. The Cupcake: Stephanie Plum Stephanie and Morelli have a long-standing relationship that involves sex, affection, and driving each other nuts. She’s a bond enforcement agent with more luck than talent, and she’s involved in this bank-robbery-gone-bad disaster from day one. The Crisis: A favor for Ranger Security expert Carlos Manoso, street name Ranger, has a job for Stephanie that will involve night work. Morelli has his own ideas regarding Stephanie’s evening activities. The Conclusion: Only the fearless should read Fourteen. Thrills, chills, and incontinence may result.
I think that this series is really quite humorous! I have enjoyed most of the books in this series so far. I honestly think that Lula and Grandma Mazur are the funniest characters and they really make the books great. I also really like Mooner now. The only part of this story I didn't care for was the favor that Stephanie did for Ranger. (You will have to read the book to know about that favor)! If you like funny reads and murder mysteries, then I highly recommend this series!

Greeting fellow biblophiles,
I'm trying to track down a story about a squire who turns out to be the son of a prince and wins the heart of a princess?
Its like Space Balls where the hero is really a prince who didn't know he was one? I remember reading this story or something similar to it a while back and it came up as a conversation topic with a group of friends. For some reason Myth series from Robert Asprin keeps popping in my head, but I can't think if that's the story or one of his short stories that he did.
Any help would be kindly thanked.

TITLE: Official Book Club Selection: A Memoir According to Kathy Griffin AUTHOR: Kathy Griffin GENRE: Autobiography PAGES: 331 RATING: 5/5
SUMMARY: This is an autobiography about the comedian Kathy Griffin.
MY THOUGHTS: I absolutely LOVE Kathy Griffin! I find her hilarious, and I watch her reality television show My Life on the D-List on Bravo. Reading this book I learned a lot about this funny lady. Especially certain family issues and personal information about her marriage and divorce that we never saw on her show. Reading this I have gained so much more respect for this remarkable woman.

#72: Death Becomes Them: Unearthing the Suicide Notes of the Brilliant, the Famous & the Notorious by Alix Strauss:
In 2001, James Pennebaker, a University of Texas psychology professor, and Shannon Wiltsey Stirman, a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania, conducted a study of poets who'd killed themselves, and whether their writing foreshadowed their demise. The study looked at the work of John Berryman, Hart Crane, Sergei Esenin, Adam L. Gordon, Randall Jarrall, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Sylvia Plath, Sarah Teasdale and Anne Sexton. The researchers found that poets who committed suicide used many more first-person singular references (such as I, me, and my) and fewer first-person plural words (we, us, and our) than did non-suicidal poets.
Synopsis: Pop-up video guide to suicides.
